The journey

T. Christopher Lewis graduated from Dunbar High School, then attended the University of Nebraska as a Corporate Finance major and member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. He studied abroad in England and Munich, Germany — an experience that deepened his respect for different values, beliefs and ethics. He was awarded a full academic scholarship to Creighton University School of Law, where he served as President of the Black Law Students Association, clerked at the Omaha Housing Authority and interned in Washington, D.C. for Congressman Martin Frost.
A single incident during his time at Texas Tech — a fraternity party mocking lower-income and African American communities — became a turning point. As president of his fraternity, he organized protests under the banner 'We're Not Satisfied!' that led to public apologies, sensitivity reforms and scholarship funds for minority students. That experience confirmed his calling to be a voice for others. After law school, he began his career at the Omaha Housing Authority and within two years was promoted to lead attorney, overseeing real estate acquisitions, contracts, criminal evictions and HUD compliance.
